Every month in 2020 we’ll have a brand new theme that we’ll share across our platforms. There’ll be social media chats, blog articles and learning resources across all our channels. Stay tuned to our blog for updates on topics and discussions.

March, it’s all about International Women’s Day! Our favourite day of the year! Except for maybe days when we get new tech in the office? We’ve put together some resources and reading material to get you ready to celebrate (and include) women in your Code Club!

Posters:

Have you seen these awesome downloadable free posters? They are beyond cool!

‘You can’t be what you can’t see’ — so make sure the kids in your club can see themselves represented in tech!

Biased?

Everyone has their bias, it’s okay to admit it. What’s really important, is that we all recognise it and work to change it! Make sure you are aware of your unconscious bias by completing these activities.

Role models:

Mashable has put together this brilliant list of unsung women in tech. From Ada Lovelace to Katherine Johnson, there’s so many! And they’re so often forgotten!

(Check out Jess Wade’s project to get more women written about on Wikipedia and maybe write your own page!)

Don’t forget that #Moonhack is coming up, so check out these women who are doing amazing things in space!

Looking for tips for your club:

We wrote this pretty great (if we do say so ourselves) blog post last IWD on how to make sure girls are included at your club. Check it out, and let us know your own tips!

Remember that Code Club is a place for everyone, so while the girls in your community should be included, so should everyone! Make sure your venue is physically accessible, that you have spaces for people who may be over stimulated by noise and lights, and that you know how to access the Code Club materials in multiple languages. And, if there’s anything you need from us, just let us know!!

Keen to get the kids in your community engaged in digital learning -volunteer with Code Club today! Head to codeclubau.org to find out more info!
